Project :
Packaging design for Eryam Cosmetics
Objective:
Eryam is an Algerian brand that produces natural cosmetics with a focus on authenticity and eco-responsibility. Their commitment is to provide beauty care products that are healthy, with at least 90% natural ingredients, while also being environmentally friendly. ” Ms Rym “, who runs Eryam Cosmetics, asked me to design the packaging for three shampoos in her new range.
Initial brief:
Following a detailed brief, the project involves creating packaging for Eryam that meets the following specifications:
The process:
The research commenced with visits to cosmetics retailers to observe packaging trends. The researcher noticed an abundance of information and colourful motifs. Based on these observations and the brief’s requirements, a mood board was created to guide the design process. Suitable fonts for smaller sizes and readability in French and Arabic were selected for the typography. After several proposals, the founder of Eryam opted for a clean and distinctive design. The colourimetry was worked on, with specific Pantones chosen for each shampoo. The text elements were vectorised to ensure compliance with margins, bleeds, and trim lines, following the supplier’s template. The PDF file provided to the printer was in CMYK mode, with the FOGRA 39 print profile and a resolution of 300 dpi. Upon receiving the proof, conformity and printing quality were checked to ensure that the final product met the brand’s standards.
Outcome:
Following the sales launch of Eryam, the brand received many positive feedbacks and achieved significant sales. This reflects the success of our collaboration in designing a solution that meets the objectives defined in the specifications, in addition to the marketing initiatives.
Personal Reflection:
Personal Reflection:
Before working with Eryam, I had a misconception about cosmetic design. I often assumed it was easy because of the simplicity of many designs. However, my experience with Eryam provided me with a deeper understanding of the cosmetic industry within my design field. I realised that achieving a simple design that is communicative and meets all the objectives of the brief is a challenging task. Concentration, perception, and attention to detail are essential. I have learned that every detail matters, and now I approach every aspect of the design process with care and consideration.
